Don’t Give Up. Do Your Dance and Praise Him in Advance. According to Pastor Marvin Sapp, Life Gets Sweeter as the Day Goes By. On January 28, 1967, like at the Azusa Street Revival, a supernatural event took place. A Godsent American gospel music Hero was born. Lodena and Henry welcomed their son, Marvin Louis Sapp. If he could talk then, I can imagine him saying, “Here I Am.” Without God, I Never Would Have Made It!

Marvin Sapp, the Miracle, was called to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. As a result, he became a renowned gospel music artist. The loving father is a worshipper, a singer and songwriter. He is also a gifted pastor, evangelist and author. Pastor Sapp is a frequent guest at Christian crusades, Christian concerts and other events. He has been featured on several Christian broadcasting networks and Christian radio stations.

Marvin Sapp Biography

Pastor Marvin Sapp grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has four brothers and is the shortest. Don’t Get It Twisted. Jesus Ministry included ministering to a short man. Zacchaeus climbed sycamore trees to see Jesus. (Luke 19:1-10). Little Marvin would climb the gospel charts. He had destiny on his life. His musical talent was evident as early as age four. He would stand tall among gospel music greats. His father, a musician, sang gospel music in quartets. His mother did not have the gift of singing. However, she had the gift of wisdom. She was a very wise mother. She taught Marvin hymns and other gospel songs. Most importantly, she challenged him to “choose ye this day whom you will serve.”(Joshua 24:15).

Young Marvin Sapp was told by his mother to choose between Honoring the King or singing for the devil. Above All, Marvin chose to sing about the love of Jesus Christ. At age 10 his parents divorced. However, as a child, Sapp was More Than A Conqueror. He remained Faithful to his musical calling and kept singing. His musical path was somewhat similar to his father’s’. As a teenager, he sang in gospel music groups, too. God was setting him up to Possess the Land. Later, Marvin joined Fred Hammond & Commissioned.

After doing albums with Commissioned, Marvin Sapp produced 7 albums. He began his new gospel music career as a soloist. His singing included three gospel music genres. They are Gospel and contemporary Christian gospel music. He has also recorded inspirational and worship songs.

In 1996, things Changed, Pastor Marvin Sapp began to experience unexpected losses. Seemingly, things were not working out for his good. He experienced the death of his natural father, Henry Lewis Sapp, Jr.  Within days, his spiritual father and gospel music mentor died. In spite of what he had gone through, he went to church. However, it was not his intent to preach. He sang, instead. A song came out of his storms. He sang Never Would Have Made It for the first time. It was from the portals of heaven.

Marvin Sapp Gospel Songs

Initially, Marvin Sapp did not include Never Would Have Made It in his album plans. The single spread like wildfire. The gospel song and album Thirsty were top hats on the charts. The powerful productions crossed over into the R&B, Hip Hop genres. They were listed on Gospel Billboard Charts. At 500,000 copies, Thirsty was certified gold. Over 700,000 have been sold. People are still buying this best seller gospel album, even as I write. In gospel music today, Marvin Sapp has recorded at least 120 songs. I’m quite sure it Feels Real Good to have such a powerful anointing.

Still Standing on the Rock, this time, Marvin Sapp made gospel music history on Billboard. With God as His Strong Tower, his album sales excelled again. Hallelujah! They were higher than anyone in Billboard’s 54 year history of gospel albums. God was taking him Deeper. In 2009, Here I Am help crown the chart at No. 2 in its first week. Almost 80,000 copies were sold. He saw the Best in Me was the leading single on the album. It was No. 20 on the Urban AC chart for Billboard. It also crossed over to Hot R&B and Hip Hop charts as No.14. It took the lead in in gospel songs. It was No. 1 and was written with the help of Aaron Lindsey, a producer.

Because of Grace and Mercy, Marvin Sapp won several exceptional awards. He won 10 Grammy Awards and 22 Stellar Awards. He was awarded 8 BMI Songwriter Awards, 5 Dove Nominations and 2 Dove Awards. Sapp has won 2 Best Gospel Artist, BET Awards, 2 Soul Train Music Awards and more. His albums and videos feature at least 120 contemporary Christian gospel songs. He has two honorary degrees in theology and has a Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Aenon Bible College and Friends International Christian University.

Marvin Sapp’s Wife

Marvin Sapp was called to live the life of a Christian disciple. Preparation for the “singing preacher” calling also began at an early age. Before his career with Commissioned, he enrolled in Aenon Bible College. His singing gift began to merge with the call to preach. He married his third grade sweetheart, Malinda. The Lighthouse Full Life Center Church thrived. Three children were born. They are children Marvin II, Mikaila, and Madisson. The late Mrs.Sapp filled several ministerial and personal roles. As wife and mother, she was a counselor and college professor. She was the executive manager and pastoral administrator for husband.

Marvin Sapp believes in transparency. He believes music is ministry. The main focus of his music ministry is to encourage others. He has a heart for the younger generation. Marvin also believes in the faithfulness or dependability of God in all circumstances. He is Faithful. He Won’t Fail. As a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Marvin encourages the pursuit of greatness.

Most of all, Marvin Sapp values spending time with family and friends. One of his most favorite places to visit is Hightower Memorial Temple in Douglas, Georgia. A supporter of stroke awareness, he has his own “clean” gospel reality show.

Like Marvin Sapp, He Has His Hands On You, too! Just say, “Lord Be It Unto Me.” Give Praise to Him for the Fresh Wind that He wants to send upon your life. When challenges come, Keep Holding On. If You Just Believe, God will give you the power you need. Live the Life God has predestined for you. So, Lift Those Hands and tell the devil, “Don’t Count Me Out!” Say Jesus. I Belong to You. For the Rest of My Life, Here’s Where I Belong!  As in Psalms 27: 4.One Thing I asked from the LORD; this do I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life……” Nothing Else Matters. Glory to the Lamb!

Experience the power of the minstrel anointing. On September 7, 1971, Micah Stampley was born to Richard and Delmarie Stampley. Born in Los Angeles, California, he was the fifth of eight children. Micah’s childhood days were spent in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A carpenter and a homemaker gave birth to a “child prodigy.” His future would include sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He would go on to become one of the world’s greatest Christian gospel singer, songwriter, actor and third-generation preacher. Let’s find out how.

Micah Stampley Biography

Micah Stampley had a Call to the Nations on his life before birth. “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee: and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5). His global destiny began to unfold at church. As the son of a pastor, he became active in church at age 4. At age 7, he began playing the drums. He started writing songs at the age of 12. Later, Stampley and his brother, Nathaniel, supervised the church music department. The musical virtuoso was a choir director and musician. He conducted musical workshops which included musical arrangements, blend and balance.

Next, God had Another Place for the musical giftings of Micah Stampley. His anointing would move beyond the church walls. Micah was being set up for global ministry. He was featured at several churches and community functions. He appeared in musicals and was on television for children. Micah was a guest on Baton Rouge’s WAFB TV where he was featured on the “Buckskin Bill Show.”  Stampley sang and played the tambourine on the Buckskin Bill Show. He was also invited to the governor’s inauguration in Louisiana where he sang the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

Micah Stampley listened to Christian gospel music artists at a young age. He was influenced by several well-known music artists. He enjoyed music by Michael W. Smith, Pastor Shirley Caesar, the Winans and the late Pastor Andrae Crouch. He also listened to secular music artists. His favorites were Billy Ocean, Cyndi Lauper, and Michael Jackson.

The future triumphs of Micah Stampley were preceded by tragedy. For years he experienced a loss of direction. He witnessed the death of and incarceration of his brothers. Fearing he was next, he moved to California. Satan was after his treasure, he barely missed death. In spite of all, God was still Worthy to Be Praised.

Suddenly, a silver lining appeared for Micah Stampley. While singing at a conference, destiny called again. He submitted to the tutelage of renowned Evangelist Earl Johnson. God began to, as in the song Speak into My Life, to speak prophetically into the life of Micah. He begins to do concerts. He also accompanied Reverend Johnson on crusades.

Surprisingly, Micah Stampley answers another clarion call.  He returns home to Louisiana. His father needs help with the music department. It was never a desire of his to go back to Louisiana. However, after a Holy Visitation, he felt led by God to return home. God was up to something. His future music partner and wife, Heidi Jones who was a nurse, was there. Five children were born. They are Brandon, Micah III, Mary, David, and Adam. King Adamtey adopted Micah as a son. A native of Ghana, King Adamtey is Bishop Kingsley Fletcher of Durham, North Carolina. Bishop Fletcher is a renowned preacher, author, university chancellor, businessman and more.

Micah Singer

Today, after all he has been through, Micah Stampley is featured in Christian videos. He is an extraordinary soloist, musician, songwriter and preacher. Micah is a powerfully anointed multi-octave minstrel. In one of several of his songs, War Cry, his voice ranges from bass to soprano. He can sing the highest of high notes or sing the lowest of low notes. Micah has not had professional voice training. He gives glory to God for this unexplainable supernatural gift. He says, “It just happens.”

As stated in his recording, The Corinthian Song, he is a “vessel full of power with a treasure from the Lord.” His gift is demonstrative of the words in several online sermons “The yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing…….(Isaiah 10:27). For example, in one of the Christian Movies, David, God allows an evil spirit to terrorize Saul. Saul requests a minstrel or an anointed musician. “Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then, relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him. ( I Samuel 16:23).

Minister of Music

Micah Stampley experienced more Deuteronomy 28 blessings of obedience. He would reap a whirlwind of blessings. God was preparing him to experience more Heaven on Earth. More musical opportunities began to overtake him. He became minister of music for COGIC at Baton Rouge, Covenant Life Church and Shekinah Glory of LA. He worked with Bishop Paul Morton at St. Stephens. He was in music ministry at Fountain of Praise and St. Agnes Baptist in Texas.

The wheels of destiny were turning faster and faster for Micah Stampley. The Well of blessing for him was yet overflowing. He won the Gospel Star Search Stella Award in 2004, 2006 and 2015. Next, Bishop Jakes’ organist, Marcus Dawson, heard him sing. He was invited to sing at the Potter’s House. He became the personal psalmist for Bishop Jakes. Eventually, Micah was offered a recording contract by T.D. Jakes’ Dexterity Records. The Songbook of Micah registered at No. 3 on the charts. He did a Motown Gospel Christmas project. He won 2 GMA Dove Awards. Micah was one of the 2005 Billboard Magazine, Top 10 Gospel Music Artists. He was one of the AOL Black Voices, Top 11, Gospel Geniuses.

Having turned down other labels, today Micah Stampley has his own label, “Levitical Records.”He and Heidi are among the founders of two, 501(c)(3) organizations. They are Interface Entertainment and Operation I Believe, Inc. They share the Marvelous love of Jesus Christ.

Finally, the life of Micah Stampley is centered around these beliefs. Stay humble. Don’t let your blessing go to your head. As stated in his song, We Need the Glory for power to operate in humility. Let God know He can trust you. Maintain Christian morals. Pray for Holiness. Remember family comes before ministry and business. Be honest. Tell the truth. Learn music business, copyright, and publishing laws. Too, Micah believes in the Unfailing Love of Jesus.
