Now you can use your Christian green thumb in Christian youth leadership ministry. Help grow future Christian leaders while encouraging them in their walk by faith. Bring out the best in them. Consider global missions as a training tool for Christian youth leadership.
“For the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” (Proverbs 11:30).
In the U.S., there are almost 50 secular global youth leadership training organizations. The world system is training its youth to “reach their fullest potential” as future American citizens. Founded in 1902, one of those organizations is the 4-H. It’s motto is, “Make the best better.” It’s slogan is, “Learn by doing.” As a Christian youth leadership trainer, you can “make the best” youth ministry you know, “better.” Just have faith. Show them how to become Kingdom citizens. Train them for youth ministry positions and teach them about the “going and doing” involved in carrying out the “Great Commission.”
Jesus’ youth leadership skills were evident as early as age 12. He began His God-mission immediately.
“And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon Him.” (Luke 2:40).
Three days after returning from Passover, His parents realized He was missing. They found Him in a deep doctoral discussion with the temple scholars. He asked His parents,
”Why did you seek me?”Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49).
Help the youth for Christ be about their Heavenly Father’s business. Get them ready now! Prepare them for global missions while they are young and eager to learn.
Youth Leadership Initiative
- First, design a Christian youth leadership, kingdom-based curriculum.
- Set global missions goals.
- Help Christian youth learn about their Christian faith.
- Teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Talk about evangelism.
- Include instruction about the Global Mission Mandate.
- Develop young Christian disciples and future missionaries.
- Provide discipleship classes, or workshops.
- Explore world medical missions.
- Use youth ministry videos with missionary stories.
“World Missions: We are not in it for the income. We are in it for the outcome.”
In youth leadership, verbalize the importance of personal salvation. Next, introduce them to the Salvation Prayer or Sinner’s Prayer. Emphasize the meaning and purpose of the Salvation prayer and point out the prayer’s relation to Jesus death and His Resurrection. Finally, provide in-class outreach opportunities to use the prayer in class to lead students to Christ. Encourage them to lead their friends and family in the Salvation Prayer.
Next, highlight the role of daily devotional time in youth leadership training. Teach scriptural empowerment techniques using Jesus temptation. Also, emphasize daily prayer, worship and bible reading and demonstrate scripture meditation and memorization techniques. Teach and give instruction on the different and proper fasting principles. Last but not least, point out the fundamentals shared in Jesus Ministry about:
- conflict resolution skills
Also, during youth leadership training, introduce witnessing tools such as the Jesus Christ Movie about Jesus Parables and Jesus Miracles. Allow them to practice their witnessing skills in real-life situations. In short, Youth ministry skits make some great outreach tools. Include puppets, mimes or sermons for kids in skit presentations for community outreach. Share them at other Christian youth leadership programs, workshops and conferences.
Global Youth Leadership
Furthermore, in youth leadership training, offer global missions career direction. And, encourage the pursuit of career or volunteer choices. Become familiar with talents and skills in your youth group. Match student skills to needed youth ministry positions or careers in global missions. For example, world medical missions is a good area for students with medical interests. Students interested in nutrition can join world food relief missions. As a result, the short-term and long-term career opportunities in missions are many.
“As you go, tell the world. Tell the world about Jesus. Tell them about His Love.”
