Texas Church Shooting Devin Kelley

This Texas church shooting comes less than a month after the horrendous, Las Vegas shooting attack. It claimed the lives of 59 people.

The shooter, Devin Kelley, is a former US Air Force member. He was discharged because of domestic violence charges, weapons violations, and concerns regarding his mental health. He also once escaped a military prison facility. Other reports highlight Kelley’s personal history as being riddled with charges ranging from animal cruelty to making threats toward military superiors. The Texas church shooting just shows how important it is to follow through with proper procedures when people might be capable of harming others. He was in need of spiritual guidance to help him with overcoming what was troubling him.

An investigation has started with the goal of discovering how Kelley could have legally obtained the weapons he used in the massacre. Military mental health and domestic cases are treated differently than civilian cases. Despite a long history of mental illness and criminal activity, Kelley was able to purchase weapons that would otherwise have been denied through government background checks. The terrible Texas church shooting could have been avoided with proper care and 26 lives would have been spared.
