Elijah and the Second Coming of Jesus

Prophet Elijah, a forerunner to the tribulation. Sermon audios on Prophet Elijah describe and enlighten us through scripture that he is one of the two witnesses.

Malachi 4:5-6 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. 6 And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

His ministry lasted 24 years and was considered one of the greatest prophets during the times of the Old Testament. Elijah was one of two men taken to Heaven by God without experiencing death. The other was Enoch.

The Prophet Elijah lived back in the days of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. Rulers who were wicked over the Jewish people. Elijah prophesied Jezebel being eaten by dogs in the streets. This proved the prophets of Baal to be false and called fire down upon them for destruction. All of these were the workings of God through his faithful servant, Elijah.

“End Times” and the Prophet Elijah

What many followers of Christ struggle with is understanding when to take the bible literally. The actual confusion occurs by failing to recognize when Jesus and the bible are speaking in terms of “spirit.” As a result, many will fail to recognize the sign of the end times by failing to recognize both the antichrist spirit and the spirit of Elijah at work. Rather than looking for the physical return of an individual named Elijah, we are instructed by the apostle John to look for an Elijah-type spirit. Hence, to usher in the second coming of Jesus.

She told Prophet Elijah that she only had enough flour for herself and her son to eat their last meal and then they would die. Elijah told her not to be afraid and to do as he had said. She was obedient even though she had given up.

1 Kings 17:14-16 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’” 15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her.
