The Abrahamic Covenant!

Abraham Movie

The Abrahamic covenant is vital to understanding Gods promises. By faith, Abraham and Sarah and his nephew Lot, left their families to begin a journey into the unknown. It was truly a “walk by faith.” You will learn all about the covenant in the Abraham movie. How he trusted in God’s voice even though he did not know where their trek in the wilderness would lead them.

Blessings of Abraham

Genesis 12:1-3 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

The Abraham movie goes shows how Abraham was searching for something in his life. The thing that was missing, something he was longing for. Abraham was Godsent like so many other prophets in the bible were. He had to “walk by faith” to receive the Abrahamic blessings for us all. And Christianity today reminds us that we are still in the covenant today. Abraham had to have faith, like the mustard seed parable that Jesus spoke of.

Abraham and Lot were like father and son. It came a time though that there was some dissension between Lots’ people and Abraham’s. So, Lot and his people left Abraham and went to Sodom and Gomorrah. I know you have heard or read about that place in the bible and how his wife turned to a pillar of salt. The bible says there is nothing new under the sun. It’s repeating itself today. The Abraham movie actually gives you an idea on how people turn from God out of rebellion, But God has the final word and always will. Have faith and follow Jesus. The only way to our Father in Heaven is through His Son. Sounds like Lot should have kept following Abraham.

Walk by Faith and Not by Sight

As you will see in the Abraham movie, sometimes we have to walk by faith and not by sight. Abraham did not know where he was taking the people but God spoke to him along the way. He brought confirmation through the High Priest, Melchizedek who brought him bread and wine after the victory he had in battle. In return, Abraham blessed him with a tenth (a tithe) of all he had.

Abraham and Sarah were not young people by any means. In fact, Sarah was barren and longed to give Abraham a child. God promised Abraham and Sarah that they would have a child. But Sarah, being old and barren for all her life, decided that the child would be born through her handmaid. Abraham did have a child with her but God was not pleased. Ishmael was the son of an Egyptian woman. A few years later, you will see in the Abraham movie how God blessed them with a son called Isaac. Sarah was 90 and Abraham was 99! This was in Gods plan. It was a supernatural event that only God could have done.

Trust God

Later on in the Abraham movie, he is asked to take his son Isaac and go to a place and make a sacrifice of his son. Needless to say, Abraham was beside himself. I can’t imagine how he must have felt. But, he trusted God and they set out to the place that God would show them. God provided the ram in the bush and Abraham’s son Isaac was set free. We just have to trust God, no matter what He says. Have faith that His word is truth. Abraham’s faith in God is our example. The Abraham movie is one that I watch over and over. Because it is based on scripture, there is always something new to learn or have a revelation about. You will just have to watch the Abraham movie for yourself to find out the whole story.

The Abraham movie is one of my favorites and I know you will enjoy it too. For more Christian movies or articles on biblical topics, you can find them right here at KNCB.org.
