Jacob Movie

The story begins with Jacob and Esau still living with their parents, Isaac and Rebecca. They had been married 20 years before Jacob and Esau were born.  Twins that were different in every way.  Esau was the hunter as you will see during the Jacob movie. He shared the same interests as his father Isaac. On the other hand, Jacob was a gentle son.  He had a great love for God and showed it by the way he lived.

If you are not familiar with the story of Jacob and Esau, you will need to understand that when they were born, Jacob was holding on to Esau’s heel.  The Lord had spoken to Rebecca while pregnant that two nations would be born from her womb and that the elder brother would serve the younger. This was very important back in those days because the blessings of the Father would be passed or given to them. The Jacob movie clearly shows that even though we make mistakes, He keeps His promises. Jacob was a man after God’s heart while Esau was prideful and did not honor the Lord.

Genesis 25:23

The LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, And two peoples will be separated from your body; And one people shall be stronger than the other; And the older shall serve the younger.”

Isaac Blesses Jacob

During the latter days of the life of Isaac, he was basically blind and could only tell his sons apart by their voices.  Their smell was different and Esau was a very hairy man. The Jacob movie gives the impression that their mother favored Jacob and Isaac favored Esau. Because Jacob loved the Lord, Rebecca wanted him to receive blessings from his father and not Esau. So she devised a plot so that Jacob would receive the blessings. And he did. She remembers what the Lord spoke to her considering the elder would serve the younger.

Genesis 27:28-29 states Isaac’s blessing: “Therefore God give thee of the dew of heavens, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: Let people serve thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.”

The Jacob movie shows the great strife between the two brothers. Jacob left the village for fear that he would be killed. Rebecca, his mother, told him where he should go to her brother’s house whose name was Laban. Laban had two daughters, Leah and Rachel.

Jacob and Rachel

Watching the Jacob movie will show you how much he adored and loved Rachel. But Laban did not want to be disgraced with the older daughter Leah, still being unwed. So, he devised a plan and tricked Jacob into marrying Leah. Jacob had to agree to work 7 more years in order to have Rachel as his wife. Laban was full of deceit but knew that Jacob was blessed by God. Everything he touched, flourished. No doubt he used it to his advantage until Jacob had had enough.

The Jacob movie shows the whole family, which had become quite large after 14 years, left Laban’s village to begin their journey as God commanded. Jacob fathered twelve sons and one daughter, which are the twelve tribes of Israel. Of course, his favorite son was born to Rachel. She had been barren for many years before she birthed Joseph. You can watch the Christian film called the Joseph movie here at KNCB.org. It is just one of many excellent free Christian movies that follow the scripture very well.

There have been many Sunday Sermons based on the book of Genesis which is at the beginning like in the Abraham movie. Abraham was Jacob’s grandfather who received God’s promises for all of us. We must have faith like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to fulfill the will of God.

Of course, this is just a brief summary of the Jacob movie and I hope you take the time to watch it for yourself. Watching a movie or listening to a sermon audio can reinforce what God is saying through the scriptures. I found that watching them over and over brings revelation and much insight into the word of God.

Find Your Destiny

In Christianity today, there are many that are called by God and they are walking in their calling. Fulfilling their destiny and being all they can be for the Kingdom of God. Don’t wait to find out what yours is. I encourage anyone who has not confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior in their life, to consider doing it right now. The Bible says in

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

He died and rose again for all of us.
