South Africa Sights

Have you ever dreamed of going to South Africa? I have many times. Perhaps you are a Christian disciple that has been called by God to global missions. It’s possible that South Africa is where you will fulfill that mission. While you are there you will want to see and experience the history and culture while visiting the different cities. Here are some beautiful South Africa sights to visit during your adventure missions.

Cities in South Africa

Cape Town

Located in the SW corner near the Cape of Good Hope. Cape Town is the second largest city in South Africa. The months of October and November would be the perfect time to tour South Africa. It is actually their spring and the days are dry and the temperature is comfortable, not too cold or wet. Cape Town is near the oldest surviving building in all of South Africa, “The Castle of Good Hope.” And, there are many museums, galleries and theaters. Also, if you are a surfer, they say that Cape Town is one of the best places to “catch a wave.”

One of the greatest South Africa tours is, of course, going to be a South African Safari and visiting the nature reserves. And, there are several just a couple of hours away from Cape Town. There are even malls for shopping, vineyards, arts and crafts and so much more. Better take some comfortable shoes and an extra suitcase. There’s a lot to do here!

Johannesburg

This is the economic center of South Africa. There are over 3 million people that live in and around the city of Johannesburg. It is also one of the “greenest” cities in the world. It contains over 6 million trees! You can take an elevator ride to the top of the tallest building in Africa, the Carlton Centre, for a panoramic view of the city. The South Africa sights in Johannesburg include art galleries, the South African Museum of Rock Art, and flea markets. Or you can visit a gold mine just 40 minutes from the city!

You won’t get bored here while shopping the local vendors and street markets and getting around should be easy.

Soweto

Two Nobel prize winners come from Soweto. Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It is also home to the largest hospital in the world, the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. One of the best South Africa sights in Soweto is definitely the Mandela Family Museum and the Regina Mundi Church.

Port Elizabeth

Is known as the friendly and the windy city. Located on the Indian Ocean, Port Elizabeth is the fifth largest city in South Africa. It is a popular destination place for water-sports of all kinds. Wildlife areas and clean beaches are a couple of it’s greatest treasures. You can drive to Port Elizabeth by car from Cape Town and Johannesburg. The city has several art galleries, museums and a great place to see the native animals at the Addo Elephant National Park.

Christian Travel Agency

There are so many great place that you will want to include in your South Africa itinerary. You will just have to discuss which South Africa sights you want to see with your Christian travel tour agency. They will give you valuable information all about South Africa. Tips about South Africa climate, currency information and even more on South Africa sights not listed above.

South Africa Missions

If you are a Christian missionary in search of short term missions in South Africa, be sure to see the many South Africa sights while serving. If you want to know how to become a missionary, contact a local church who participate in missions abroad. Reinhard Bonnke is an Evangelist that has traveled to Africa on many occasions. There is a movie called The Lazarus Phenomenon. It’s about a local Pastor who died due to a car crash. His wife took him to a Bonnke’s Christian healing crusade to be raised from the dead. It’s an awesome move to watch!

South African Safari

Many Christian mission organizations even provide the experience of a South African Safari during your visit. Christian travel to South Africa can be very rewarding. Those who are Godsent to fulfill a mission will reap the rewards for helping the less fortunate. Helping with water wells provides the local tribes with some clean drinking water. And, you will be able to enjoy the different cultures and see a part of this beautiful planet Earth, like South Africa.  Enjoy your visit to South Africa!
