What is the Spirit of Man According to the Bible
Spirit of Man
Now that we know that the soul is the “you,” what about the spirit of man? Exactly what is the role of the spirit in mankind? This is a good question. There are some learned men of God that hold some strong opinions about this. The most accepted one is this. The spirit of man is the mechanism that communicates with God and your soul. This communication with God is not possible if a person is not a redeemed, regenerated, believer. That part of him that can communicate with God is stillborn at birth. A person must be born again to communicate in a pleasing way with God and for God to hear him.
Role of the Spirit
You may be surprised to know that when the unredeemed, unbelievers, pray to God, He does not hear them. There is only one prayer that God hears from the unredeemed and that is the humble prayer of repentance – the declaration that he wants to repent of his sins and asks Christ to be his Lord based on the finished work of Christ on the cross. It is a prayer that is born from hearing the Gospel. Unbelievers think they have prayer access to God, but they don’t, except for the prayer of repentance and acceptance of Christ as their new Lord.
Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me
National days of prayer sound nice, but unless the persons doing the praying are saved by God, it is a meaningless waste of breath.
You Have a Choice
If you take anything at all away from this article, make it be this. You have a choice to make while you are alive. After you are dead, it is too late. There are no second chances. If the Spirit of God is speaking to your soul, now is the day of salvation, get down on your knees, humble your heart, confess to God that you have done wrong things and ask him to forgive you for them. Ask Him to make your spirit alive and receive the gift of eternal life that God is offering you. Ask Him to conduct your way from now on by the power of the Holy Spirit that he will give you to live with you forever. You have literally everything to lose if you don’t and more to gain than you can imagine if you do. Your soul and spirit will live for eternity with our Creator.
The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:9. “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”.
Scripture tells us in Matthew 9:37-38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” There is power in prayer. We as Christians are to love our neighbors by praying for their souls.
